Description:
The Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring course expands on knowledge and physiological principals presented in the AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course. This course uses a case study approach to focusing on the analysis of maternal-fetal physiology related to complex clinical information and fetal heart rate tracings. The course emphasizes the physiology of fetal-maternal oxygenation, interpretation of tracings, the selection of clinical interventions, and perinatal risk-management principles. An optional knowledge integration test in available.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will:
1. Describe physiologic principles of the pregnant patient’s and fetus' oxygen transfer as they apply to principles of fetal heart monitoring.
2. Appraise the fetal response to the pregnant patient's pathological and physiological adaptations during the labor process.

Expectations for the Class
Congratulations on your decision to take an AWHONN virtual course. To maximize the benefit of the course you must observe the rules and responsibilities. Therefore, please read the rules and responsibilities listed below carefully before attending the virtual offering.
1.) I agree that I will observe the following rules and responsibilities during a virtual course.
2.) I will have the appropriate unused Student Material Pack and access to the current Fetal Monitoring Principles and Practice Textbook for use during the entire virtual course. The course materials can be obtained from your Instructor (if possible) or ordered from Kendall Hunt at 1-800-228-0810.
3.) I will use a computer with webcam/video camera and speakers, and I will log into the course prior to the start of the course.
4.) To be fully attentive to the Instructor and course participants, I will not use any other electronic devices or web pages during the course presentation, including the use of my cellular phone, texting, web browsing, checking email, responding to emails, etc.
5.) I will attend the virtual course in an environment that does not interfere with the video and audio presentation, e.g. not in the car, not picking up children at school, not on a shift at work, etc.
6.) I will participate in all modules of the program and testing (test only if required by employer).
